Hi, my question is about my 12 year old daughter cancer. She has an optical pathway glimeo. She was diagnosed in June 2008. We have done 7 chemo’s in 8 years. We did proton radiation last summer. It has mastisized in two new spots. They sent part of old tumor off to a pathologist 12 weeks ago. We still don’t have results. I can’t get a straight answer from her doctor only that it takes time. Is 12 weeks to long? She won’t start any kind of treatment until we have results back. Can y’all explain why we don’t have an answer yet. They keep telling they don’t know why we don’t have results yet. Thank you.

Thank you very much for sharing your concerns about your daughter with us. I can only begin to imagine what you have been going through over the last 8 years. My heart goes out to you, and I commend you for having the patience and perseverance to keep going.

As for the pathology, 12 weeks is indeed a long time. I can not speculate as to why this is happening. I suspect that the pathology was suspicious or equivocal, and the studies had to be redone or sent to a specialized cancer center for further investigation.

This is my best guess. It could be due to something totally different however. Please let us know about the outcome and I wish you all the best.

I would recommend you get a detailed consultation by one of our brain cancer specialists or talk to one of our oncologists over the phone. To do so, please follow this link.

Keep up the hope
