My husband has secondary liver cancer after rectal cancer. He has had 3 stages of treatment but they have not worked. He has been told that his condition is in-operable which we have accepted. However, he is no longer on chemo but is feeling extremely tired and has very little energy. Is this a symptom of the after affects of his treatment and is there any other treatment that would be possible for him? He is76 yrs old.

Thank you very much for contacting us with your concerns

My heart goes out to your husband and what he has been through so far. This must be a very difficult time for your family. you asked the following question:

I believe you are telling us that the liver cancer comes from the rectal cancer. After three stages of treatment, we have to damp down our expectations about whether this cancer can ever be treated. I do not have the full information we need to tell you whether there are more treatment options.

As for the fatigue, it can be due to the progression of cancer itself, a side effect of the treatment, or poor nutrition. Usually it is a combination of all three.

We will need more information to render a good opinion. You may get a consultation by an expert oncologist of Cancerdocs by clicking here.

Thank you!

Hope this helps
