I have been diagnosed with esophageal cancer either stage 3 or 4 depending on biopsy a week from now. Should I have the doctor begin radiation treatment on tumor on esophagus before biopsy?
I’m with Cleveland Clinic. Should I get 2nd opinion from University Hospital?

Thank you very much for contacting us with your concerns regarding esophageal cancer.
Let me preface by saying that you are lucky to be taken care of at the Cleveland Clinics as they are a top notch university that we work with. Case Western is equally as qualified and I do not think that you will need another opinion outside of the clinics. If you want to, we could definitely help you with that and get your case reviewed by oncologists from top notch places as well like MD Anderson, Sloan and Harvard. That’s what Cancerdocs specializes in. You may request a 2nd opinion by visiting this link.
But I am giving you my honest opinion and saving you some money.
Regarding stage III and IV, the difference is significant and the treatment is also radically different. I suppose you are doing radiation regardless of the stage to relieve your symptoms? Let us know and we will be glad to help out as much as we can.
