I have breast cancer for the second time. I had it first 23 years ago and had a lumpectomy with radiotherapy and tamoxifen. This time I have had a mastectomy and am about to have the lymph nodes removed because they have found cancer cells in one of the three nodes that were removed. I am trying to avoid chemo, is there an alternative please?

To determine the best course of treatment for breast cancer following surgery and following lymph node dissection, we need to know more about your disease, your age, the type of breast cancer, the hormone status, and some other risk factors.
However, as a free educational answer without further reviewing your personal chart, I can tell you that chemotherapy will be needed if there are positive lymph nodes. I know you are trying to avoid chemotherapy and I understand you, but the benefits will probably outweigh the inconveniences in your case.
