I have two sons both affected by Alph Thalassemia Intellectual Disabilty Disorder (ATR-X). Both boys are missing two DNA base pairs (ASP and GLU). Is there a particular diet that would benefit them?

Thank you very much for sharing your concerns with us regarding your sons. Despite their disease, I am sure they are two wonderful boys who bring joy to your life.
Regarding ATR-X, I am not aware of any particular diet that is beneficial, and I reviewed some articles to come up with a better answer for you. The most I could come up with was the need for high calorie diets to keep their nutrition in check. At times botox injections are needed to help with the digestion.
